May Day Weight Loss Challenge- Weigh-in # 6

Weight lost this week- +3 lbs

Weight lost since the start of the challenge- 2.5 lbs
Total weight loss since Hailey was born- 35.5 lbs
I was not happy to see the scales today and they were not happy to see me. If there was a window in my bathroom I would have thrown the scales right out onto the ground below.

There is one word needed to tell you why last week did not go well- snacking.

Last Tuesday, after my successful weigh-in, I decided that since I had an entire week before I had to weigh in again that I would indulge and eat just 2 Chips Ahoy cookies. Then of course, just 2 more. And then 2 more. Before I knew it I had eaten half of the box of the cookies. Wednesday I ate the other half. Thursday was good because, well, there weren't any cookies left. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday I found many other things to snack on, none of them healthy. I have been a bit stressed this week, but that is no excuse. Just because I feel stressed does not mean I should stuff my face. Most of the time I was snacking I was not even hungry.

The good news is that I still walked everyday. I really enjoy my walks with Hailey, so it's not even hard for me to get that done.
It's so discouraging that it took me so long to lose that weight and in one week I gained 3 pounds back. I thought about just giving up, but then I looked at one of my pre-pregnancy skinny pictures and I know that I felt so much better when I was that size. So, here I am ready to get back on the wagon. I'll continue my exercise, make better food choices, and drink more water.

Time to go check in a Tales From The Scales.
19.5 pounds to go!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gained this week. It's quite disheartening isn't it??? Oh well we'll have to try harder this week :)

Kudos on walking daily. Keep it up.

Thanks for the great excuse. Come over and see what my 7-year-old taped to the wall.

I like the idea of using a picture. I don't know why I haven't thought of that, but that might be exactly what I need. Thanks!

I stayed the same this week, which was a blessing since I ate a great deal of cake on Father's Day! Keep trying! Don't throw the scales out. At least you see what you need to work on. You're doing a great job!

Oh, I'm struggling too. In 6 weeks I've only lost 3 lbs. and it's a struggle not to gain those right back.

Don't give up hope and I won't either!

Do not beat yourself up over this, life happens. Hang in there dear one.

Aw, Melanie. Hang in there.

Have you noticed the *why* or *what's going on* when you are snacking (watching TV, nibbling while cooking, etc)? Stress? Bored?

Maybe if you can change the why or what then maybe the snacking will resolving itself.

I have my "skinny" pictures all over the house to remind me that if I used to be, I can still be. I just have to pay now so I can play later! You can do it - don't let a little setback do you in. Recommit! Your attitude is fantastic - I know you'll do great this week!

Walking is such an awesome habit to keep up. Thanks for the inspiration! I'm just getting started and hope to make it a habit. We're on this journey together! Take care!

I LOVE the cartoon! I'm sorry you had a rough week. I'm like you with the Chips Ahoy - I can't even let myself have one - I wouldn't stop. I should go to Chips Ahoy Anonymous!
It's good you are still walking - it's going to happen for you - don't give up!

Sorry!
But--I feel your pain.
Stress eating----wish I could throw that out the window. :)
Better news next week.

Isn't it amazing how much easier it is to gain than to lose. Quite frustrating if you ask me! LOL.

Good luck this week! You'll do great!

I know it is disappointing to see the scales heading in that direction, but I see two good things:

1. You know what caused it - snacking

and

2. You have not gained back 20 lbs and feel completely trashed.

Time to take an inventory of the snack you love and see what logical substitutions you can make. I am sorry I have been absent lately, we put our pool up and that has kept me outside on lifeguard patrol all the time. I am sure to free up some time in the next couple of days with all these storms coming across.

Yeah, my scale's life was in danger this morning, too. Sounds like it was a bad week in lots of places. We'll get past this, though and move on toward healthy bodies and keep making healthy choices.

You are aware of the snacking while stressed. i am the same way and find I have to pray about it so I catch myself doing it. You are walking lots and that is great!

Okay.
I love the comic!!

And I totally understand about the cookies. Been there. Matter of fact, I'd have eaten the other half for you. We could have split it evenly. *L*

It will get easier. It takes 30 dayt to break a habit! We'll get there!

Keep walking and dong what you have been. If you are going to snack, just make sure the snacks are healthy. Baby carrots and nonfat ranch dressing are a great choice. Or rice cakes. You're doing great! Hang in there!

Keep trying! Don't give up! I too am struggling to lose and we just have to stay focused. Continue the walking. I know it works. It always does, we just don't see the results we want as fast as we want. You've done well so far!

Those cookies will do it every time! My personal weakness is Pepsi. Pretty hard to lose without quitting it.

I hear ya! I seem to be an all or nothing person--I'm trying to learn moderation, but it is just easier for me to not even have the stuff around!
