Happy 9th Birthday Dottie!

"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion. "

Hiding Out

Hailey is usually pretty good and does not cry often. When she does not like something she lets us know by grunting. The grunts grow increasingly louder until someone does whatever it is that Hailey is demanding be done. When Hailey does cry or grunt, Dottie gets nervous and paces around the house for a couple of minutes. If the crying or grunting continues, Dottie takes refuge under Brooke's bed. Once the noise stops, she waits there until someone comes in and lifts the bed up and tells her that it is okay for her to come out. Maybe someday I will join her under there, in her safe place, and I won't come out until I know that all is well.

Who, Me?

Now, I think I look pretty innocent. But, for some reason my mom disagrees about my innocence. Like earlier this week- my mom was playing with that squeaky baby again. So, I found my favorite squeaky squirrel toy and brought it to her so I could join in the fun. But, of course, my mom said, "No Dottie- you can't play when Hailey is on the floor. You get too excited. I'll play with you later." So, I went and found a nice cozy bed to lay on while I waited for my turn to play. A little while later I heard my mom say, "Dottie Doo, have you been in the garbage again?" I have no idea why she always assumes it is me who is getting into the garbage. I always get blamed for everything around here.

Girl's Best Friend

Hailey thinks Dottie is just great! Hailey loves to watch Dottie and gets very excited when she gets to sit next to Dottie. Hailey reaches out to Dottie and "pets" her. Dottie is still a little unsure of Hailey, but allows the "petting" for a few minutes before she runs off to find herself some trouble to get into.
