May Day Weight Loss Challenge- Weigh-in # 9

I have been off of my diet for 2 weeks and I didn't weigh in last week. The news is not good.

Weight lost since my last weigh in- +3.5lbs
Weight lost since the start of the challenge- +.5lbs
Total weight loss since Hailey was born- 32.5 lbs

So, now I actually weigh a 1/2 pound more than I did when I started the challenge. I also took my measurements and I have gained back the inches I lost too. I wasn't going to post my results today because I am so unhappy with myself. But, this challenge is supposed to help me stay accountable and motivated. It can't work if I don't check in.

Rather than sit around whining about this, it's time to get serious. Here's what I am going to do:

  • Write down everything I eat.
  • Use Weight Watchers to keep track of my points.
  • Drink 8 glasses of water everyday.
  • When I eat, I will only eat. I won't be blogging or reading the newspaper while I am eating. I end up eating more than I realize when I am doing something else at the same time.
  • The other day Jan did a posting over at Tales from the Scales and she said, "When I have a craving, that if I am hungry for something that I know is going to be wrong for me, I get out a can of veggies or some fresh fruit. If I am not hungry for that healthy snack, then I know that I am just craving, not really hungry. When I am hungry enough to go for fruit or canned veggies, then I am really hungry." I love this idea and I am going to do that also.
  • Exercise everyday.

Time to go check in at Tales from the Scales.

22.5 pounds to go.

Bless you dear one, I really appreciate your honesty. But, today is a brand new day, and there can soon be a brand new you. Just take things one pound at a time, you can do this. I am cheering for you.

I'm right there with you. I, too, am starting Weight Watchers today as a birthday present to myself. Let's check in with each other...and, if you have any great low-point suggestions, please share!

I WILL be checking in with you. Go get 'em! (those 22.5 pounds)

I am not doing Weigh Watchers, but I had great results when I wrote down what I was eating. It really woke me up... I don't need to eat that much to satisfy my hunger.

Set your sights toward next week's weigh in and don't get discouraged.

Hang in there! You're really not that far away from where you started. You can turn it around. It's hard to fight that breastfeeding/metabolism interaction. Try to focus on your baby and the time will come when you won't be nursing and you can really lose more efficiently. I hate to think of anything taking joy out of this special time with your baby.

Sometimes when you have a craving, its actually your body's way of telling you that you are thirsty. Try drinking water when you get hungry ... it might work some of the time.

Hang in there! I'm in the same boat as you. It's amazing how you can work so hard to lose a little, then you stop for a teeny tiny amount of time and gain it all back plus some more. If I were posting for the challenge, mine would have said almost exactly what yours did.

A little trick I've learned . . . use smaller dishes. Use the salad plate for your main meal . . . use a child's bowl for cereal, soup, or even that taste of ice cream you need. It's amazing how it tricks your mind.

I know the feeling - my weight has also yo-yoed the last two weeks and I have been eating terribly.
Forgive yourself, love yourself - its not the end of the world.
Lets get back to the challenge.

I'm glad to see you here. I had a big gain this week, too, and I almost didn't check in, either. But you are absolutely right about needing to be here for the accountability. You should be proud of yourself!

It sounds like we are having a lot of the same struggles. Good luck this week. I know you can do it!

You go for being so honest with yourself and with the bloggy world. We all have bad weeks and now you just have to put it behind you and mooooove on. I think your goals sound great. Good luck meeting them and I can't wait to see how much you lose this week!!!

I don't know you, but I do know about diets. Diets and me... we go way back. Good luck, keep your eye on the goal, and remember... "nothing tastes as good as being thin feels". This is a quote my best friend said to me once, and sometimes it gets me over the cravings.

I'm glad you posted on this. The results might not be desirable, but they are. So, please don't get discouraged!! You can do it. You can. You will. You just need to worry about making good choices each time you eat. Don't worry about tomorrow!!! Keep your chin up! :D

It's okay, Melanie.

We all go through this kind of stuff.

I have no doubt you'll kick "the inches" back off.

Stay Strong! You'll get there, I promise!
