Advice Please

This is a sticky post that will remain at the top of my blog. Please scroll down for newer posts.

Where is a good place to go on vacation with a baby who will be 11 months old at the time? We would prefer somewhere in the US (we do not have passports). Please leave a comment with your suggestions or advice. If you prefer not to leave a comment you can email me here.

All 11 month old babies should be taken to see their own grandmothers.

This really is the second best time to go where YOU Want to go. Obviously, going to an amusement park won't be much fun because one of you will be holding the baby at all times. But it's a great time to go where-ever you might be interested in going.

We went to the Grandcanyon one year when Mini-Me was about 18 months. The ride to was easy - the ride home was tough.

Grandma's house is always an option.
Going to visit friends who live far away.
What would you like to see??

Grandma's house! Ours live 900 miles away, so it's always one of our summer vacation trips. But other than that, the beach - any place with a nice sandy beach. I live in a landlocked state that has no water whatsoever. Kids LOVE the sand and it's wide open and you can even stay all day while baby naps under an umbrella. The beach ba-by!

I will have to agree with the beach! There are so many options available for shade now that I didn't have before. The beach umbrellas are great and there is a beach canopy that is large enough to put a small playpen, chair, cooler (for bottles, soft drinks, and sandwiches, etc...) This way you can get a little sun, take shade, and get back in the sun when you want all while the baby is protected.

If you go to the right beach *grin* you will have some activities to keep you busy at night. Like shopping, broadway musicals, mini golf, these are some things my family enjoy.

I don't know where you are in relation to Myrtle Beach, SC, but it is one of our favorites on the east coast. There are so many to choose from. Hope this helps!

I would agree with the beach - we just got back from the beach and I took my 3 year old and 3 month old. An 11 month old would love it too! If you don't want the beach- check out a mountain area that you can hike, walk, swim, etc. Hope that helps some!

I, too, vote for the beach. Makes for some awesome, memory-filled photographs! Take some in black and white. Put up a big umbrella and sit and listen to the waves. Most relaxing sound in the world!

we went to Disney--other than family it probably won't matter where you go because the baby won't remember much at that age, I'm afraid. But a great bonding experience we had at Disney and their amenities are very kid friendly so it is a comfortable trip for you and your husband. Hope this helps.

Will get some lists together but since you are on East Coast Florida would be great with all the beaches and tourist type things but see that has been suggested..LOL

How about a cabin with a boat at the Thousand Islands? It's not too far, you'll be able to use the cabin for naps and feeding, and you-know-who gets to cruise around in a motor boat and take his father-in-law fishing!

Fort Lauderdale by the sea.
Sea Lord hotel.
hubby and I went there before we had kids but I imagine it would be perfect. Step from your room onto the beach. Many stores close by. PLaces to eat too. Boardwalks to stroll.

I've cruised with my little ones and it's been a good thing. RCI and Carnival have in-room sitters, since the little one is too small for their kids camps. You don't need a passport for a Caribbean cruise (yet) and you will all find something to do.

There are many beautiful places in Colorado's Rocky Mts. Steamboat Springs, Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Forest, Mesa Verde in South western CO, Glenwood Springs, Winter Park...to name a few. You have many choices, such as staying at a lodge or short-term cabin rental. If you prefer, there are wonderful hotels available. Loveland is a beautiful gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park.

You might want to head to Colorado Springs to see the amazing Garden of the Gods (rock formations), the Air Force Academy tour, Seven Veils Falls, visit caves or head over to the Royal Gorge and Grand Canyon.

Google Colorado Tourism. I am blessed to live in a beautiful state. I hope that you'll come to visit it to!!

My favorite vacation?
Monterey/Carmel, CA!!!!

Any place is good as long as your schedule can be flexible so you can fit in naps and all the regular stuff.

Thanks soo much for stopping by my blog. Love to meet new people:)
It's been a long time since i took a young one on vacation, but the beach idea does sound good.
Stop back by any time. Hope you have a great week.

How 'bout the Black Hills of South Dakota? Rent a cabin, see Mount Rushmore and all the other historical sites . . . when the baby naps, you can relax with a good book in the clean, fresh, cool air.

I have to ditto the beach or somewhere like "Callaway Gardens" in Georgia---lots of neat things she would love the colorful gardens (maybe?). Just depends on what you like to do, and her temperment. If she likes to "stroll"....then most any place could be enjoyable, as long as you take frequent breaks from her carseat to play and romp around a bit---and plenty of snacks!!!
Either way, enjoy!!!

I have gone many places with babies (seeing how I seem to keep popping them out LOL) I love the beach but it's not the most relaxing place when your chaseing around an 11 month old and trying to keep them from being taken under by a wave or from eating sand. Though they do love to dig in the sand LOL. I did the amusment park with them around that age and though there are some kiddy rides they will enjoy and maybe some animals they would love to look at, the price at most amsument parks isn't worth paying when you can't really ride the rides because your caring for the baby.
Camping however is fun and easy enough to do with a baby if you like camping..
Another place is Gatlinburge or Pigeon Forge TN. There is alot of things there you can enjoy with a baby.
